Where are we going? Where are you taking us?

It's funny (grinds teeth) how you read a dystopian novel and the technologies therein are disquieting on a very basic, emotional level... but at the same time, you ignore the fact that if you were to travel just ten or twenty years back in time, today's technologies would likely be just as troubling to you.
